Hello! And welcome to this blog, all about 'Yarn On 2016'...

What is Yarn On 2016? Well, it's a creative yarn-inspired project to raise funds and awareness for the charity Breast Cancer Now (www.breastcancernow.org). Oh, and it will also make some beautiful artwork in the process.

Set up by Esme from Red Sparrow Crochet and photographer Wendy Knipe, we aim to get a community of crocheters and knitters together on Saturday 6 February 2016 for a sponsored day of creating, with all sponsorship money going to 'Breast Cancer Now' via the Just Giving website:
https://www.justgiving.com/YarnOn2016
We hope makers from all over the UK and beyond will take part and spend some time making on that day, asking friends and family to donate. It's win-win really! Crocheting or knitting AND raising money- what could be better?

We will be asking our yarn-loving friends (that's YOU!) to make square/rectangular panels (one side must measure 15cm, acrylic/nylon yarn only please in lovely bright colours) to adorn a tree in the Abbey Gardens, Bury St Edmunds, as a piece of artwork dedicated to everyone affected by breast cancer. This lovely piece of community art will be in place from May to September.

More to follow, so watch this space and get your crochet hooks and knitting needles ready!

Esme and Wendy xx
